Janet M. Teske

Janet M. Teske, age 82, passed away peacefully at Juliette Manor and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2016.

She was born on the family farm in Borth, WI on May 6, 1934, the daughter of Arnold and Mata Schroeder Manske. She attended West Island Elementary School and was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School. On September 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Teske at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi.

Janet worked as a telephone operator for the Berlin Telephone Company before starting her family and joining her husband as a bookkeeper for Wisconsin Auction Service and Berlin Real Estate.

She was a great hostess and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Whether helping to coordinate a large church event, hosting a backyard barbeque or serving people from the lunch wagon at auctions and EAA, she welcomed everyone with a smile and kind words. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially chickens and glass baskets. Her hobbies included collecting recipes, flower gardening, particularly roses and geraniums, playing Sudoku, and playing cards and Bunko with friends.

She was a member at St John Lutheran Church in Berlin, where she served on the Ladies Aid and enjoyed the Thursday morning ladies Bible study. In the early years, she and LeRoy were also active members of the Sunday Evening Club and church bowling league. For over 40 years, she was a caring volunteer at CHN. Janet was a woman of quiet strength and strong faith and her life reflected that.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Trent) Jezwinski; and son-in-law, David Reitz. She was a loving grandmother to Ryan (Haley Miller) Reitz, Andrew Reitz, and Logan and Merritt Jezwinski; and great-grandmother to Isabella Reitz. She is further survived by one brother, Gordon (Jean) Manske; two nieces, Dawn (Don) Betler and Connie (Jon) Hansen; great nephews, Justin (Autumn) Hansen and Taylor Hansen, and great nieces, Makenna Betler and Kailee Betler. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Teske on May 22, 2004; son, Gary Teske; daughter, Jean Reitz; and infant siblings, Mavis, Ramona and David.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, the Rev. Bryan G. Lundquist officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church.
