Roland H. “Rollie” Bahr

Roland Howard “Rollie” Bahr, age 96, of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Patriot Place in Berlin.

He was born December 17, 1927, in Berlin, WI, The son of Frank and Mollie Krueger Bahr. Rollie was a 1945 graduate of Berlin High School, after which he entered the military, serving in the United States Army. On December 29, 1951, he was united in marriage to Florice Timm at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Rollie returned to Berlin and became a carpenter for Ceman Construction, and Marks Construction until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifelong member of Grace English Lutheran Church and served the city of Berlin as a volunteer firefighter for 11 years.

Rollie is survived by his two sons, James (Lorraine) Bahr and Gerald (Janet) Bahr; and one grandson, Alexander Bahr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Florice, on May 31, 2012; two sisters, Ruth Stewart and Thelma Schlenker; and three brothers, Norman, Arden and Ellsworth Bahr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Grace English Lutheran Church or the Friends of the Berlin Public Library.
