Lawrence J. Schwochert
Lawrence Joesph Schwochert, age 87, of Pine River, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Juliette Manor in Berlin.
He was born December 22, 1936, in West Allis, WI, the son of Clarence and Bernice Masset Schwochert. On April 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Weidensee-Gorman at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Larry worked for Tool Rite Manufacturing in New Berlin as a machinist for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Poy Sippi, had served in the Air National Guard for 12 years, and a past member of the Oak Creek Lions Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed working in his shop doing machining and other projects. Other passions of his were the building and the repairing of horse drawn vehicles, driving his buggy around with his horse, Zarana, and going fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Mary (John) Harris, John (Valerie) Schwochert, Joseph (Isabel) Schwochert, Ann (Mike) Foltz, Peter Schwochert (significant other, Jody), Mike Schwochert (significant other, Christina) and Kay (Victor) Underberg; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Streich; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Poy Sippi, with Fr. Kyle Sladek officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi.
