Orval G. Osheim

Orval G. Osheim, age 93, died peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Michalene’s in Ripon.

He was born October 6, 1921 in Rhame, ND, the son of Lewis and Minnie Chisel Osheim. Orval was raised in the Wausau area. On July 6, 1943, he was united in marriage to Wyiona Timmens in Platteville.

Orval was a World War II Veteran, serving as a Navy Seaman First Class. He was an active Member of the American Legion in Princeton. He was employed at Universal Motors in Oshkosh and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Orval enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taking walks, playing poker with family and friends, and spending time with his family. He also liked to read westerns and go to the casino.

He is survived by two sons, Orval (Marilyn) Osheim and Bill (Barb) Osheim; a daughter, Joyce (Paul) Christensen; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Osheim; eleven grandchildren, Barbara, David, Dan, Diana, Nicole, Heather, Michael, Steven, Peter, Gretchen, and Marshall; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Blackmore and Marge Ader; brother, Bob Osheim; sister-in-law, Phyllis Osheim; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wyiona on May 17, 2009; two sons, Dale and Wayne; foster son, Roger Osheim; and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, the Rev. Bryan Fritsch officiating. Military honors will be performed at the church immediately following the service. Interment will be in Holden Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the organ fund at Messiah Lutheran Church.
