Joyce E. Tews

Joyce Elaine Tews, age 89, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday morning, June 16, 2016 being surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born December 4, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Byrholdt Bushweiler. Joyce was a 1944 graduate of Omro High School. On June 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Rubert Tews.

Joyce worked at several places. She was a waitress at Heidel House, receptionist for Dr. Gary Eggert, secretary at Berlin High School and Berlin Senior Center. She was especially proud to have served as Treasurer for the Township of Berlin for 9 years and organist for over 30 years. It was her pleasure to currently be working at Traded Treasures in Ripon, where she considered everyone there her family. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Berlin and Berlin Senior Center.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Becky (Ray) Genrich, Julie Tews (Ken Stanzel), and Brenda (Tony) Krause; 7 grandchildren, Lisa (Tony) Eriksen, Matthew (Kayla) Genrich, Nick Krause (Jennifer Rogers), Jake Krause (Chelsey Kafer), Eliott Tews-Schinke, Jocelyn Tews-Schinke (Tony Weinkauf) and Zacary Simpson (Mireya Hernandez); 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Coda; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubert, on March 10, 1999; her parents; a daughter, Patti Tews; and brother, Elwyn Bushweiler.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Berlin, the Rev. Larry Rieck officiating. Interment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Monday, June 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the services.
